There are many brain training techniques that are available to people who want to sharpen their minds, improve their memory and exercise their brains. Not all techniques work for everyone so sometimes it is necessary to try different ones until you find one that is right for you. Sometimes you will use several techniques in order to get the most out of your brain training.

These are specially constructed “games” that are played online. They are actually exercises for your brain that help with memory, reflexes, etc.

Printed Brain Exercises
These brain exercises are done with a pencil and paper, no computer required. The most common printed brain exercises are crossword puzzles, logic problems and word searches.
This brain training technique targets specific areas that need to be worked. For instance, you may target memory brain games in order to sharpen your memory, or reflex games to make you think on your feet faster.
A brain training coach can help you through the use of just one technique or a combination of several. They will guide you through your brain training exercises and help you track your progress.
Cognitive therapy can help you learn how to make the most out of your brain exercises. This technique is often used in conjunction with brain training, but can also be used as a stand-alone technique.
Student Led Progression
In this type of technique, the student determines how quickly or how slowly he or she progresses through the levels of their brain training. They decide how and when they move up to more difficult levels.
Facilitator Led Progression
In facilitator led progression, the facilitator (who is often a coach or therapist) determines when and how a student progresses in their brain training. It is the facilitator who decides when the student is to move up to the next level.
Automatic progression usually occurs when the student is doing their brain training through an automatic system or on the internet. The system will log and analyze the student’s scores, track their progress and make determinations based on that data regarding when and how they progress and move up in the training levels.
Most brain training programs and systems use a combination of the above techniques in order to give students a well-rounded experience. They may combine online brain games, cognitive therapy and coach led training. It is typically based on what the student needs in order to get the most out of their brain training.
